Maritime community and port authority raise $400,000 for charity through golf event

SINGAPORE - The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA), together with the maritime community, raised $400,000 for charity in a golf event earlier this month.

Some $100,000 will be given to The Salvation Army Prison Support Services' Kids in Play outreach programme and another $100,000 to the Lighthouse School, which provides special education to children with visual and hearing impairments.

The remaining $200,000 will go towards other social service programmes supported by Community Chest.

During an MPA family day held at the Singapore Zoo and River Safari on Saturday, MPA chief executive Andrew Tan presented a cheque for $400,000 to Community Chest vice-chairman Mr Chew Kwee San.
