Hotel operator to hold car scrub-down to raise $150,000 for needy kids

Hotel operator Accor will be organising a car wash on Friday to raise $150,000 for children from needy families in Marine Parade GRC, in conjunction with the International Year of The Family.
Acting Minister for Manpower Tan Chuan Jin, also a Member of Parliament for Marine Parade, will wash the car of the donor giving the highest amount, together with directors of Roxy Pacific Holdings and general managers of Accor Singapore Hotels.
As many as 100 children from poor families living in Marine Parade will receive $300 each from the money raised. Ten teenagers, chosen from either the needy kin of staff working for Accor Hotels in Singapore or students from Nanyang Polytechnic, will also be getting bursaries of $1000 each for their tertiary education.
Six family service centres within South East CDC will also be able tap on a new fund, the Roxy Children Fund, to provide basic necessities such as milk powder, diapers and baby food, medical vaccinations and food vouchers for children.
