Hello Kitty's 40th birthday will be marked by an inaugural Hello Kitty Run in Singapore on Nov 1.

The 5km run, which will be the only celebratory event for the famous feline held in South-east Asia, is open to all and features a route that will take participants through some of the city's most famous landmarks.

Besides a specially designed birthday cake, fans can also look forward to fringe activites such as a Hello Kitty village.

All 15,000 spots were snapped up within 24 hours of the organisers opening registration on the run's website. Participants, who pay $65 each, will receive an exclusive runner's T-shirt and a special-edition commemorative Hello Kitty plush toy.
