SINGAPORE - The Great Eastern SG50 Charity Shield kicked off at Jalan Besar Stadium yesterday, with $133,790 raised for The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund by the insurance company's staff and partners.
The curtain-raiser match for Singapore's 2015 football season was between Warriors FC and Balestier Khalsa FC.
Great Eastern Singapore's chief executive Khoo Kah Siang presented the cheque to the fund's chairman, Mr Han Fook Kwang, during half-time.
The fund provides pocket money to children from low-income families.
Prior to the match, more than 120 budding young footballers aged six to 12 were treated to a football clinic.
