Cards, posters and an art piece of the Chinese character for "health" are among the many good wishes former prime minister Lee Kuan Yew, 91, has received since he was hospitalised at the Singapore General Hospital for severe pneumonia on Feb 5.

They are now displayed in Mr Lee's office at the Istana "to welcome him back when he is better", Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong said yesterday.

The elder Mr Lee's condition remains largely unchanged since the previous March 6 update, the Prime Minister's Office said yesterday. That update said he was in a stable condition and continues to be monitored closely by his doctors.

PM Lee, posting on his Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts, said yesterday: "On behalf of my father, I thank you all. My family and I are deeply touched by your encouragement, support and prayers. We have arranged the cards in his office to welcome him back when he is better."

The get-well cards and messages came from residents and grassroots leaders of Tanjong Pagar GRC, where the older Mr Lee is an MP, and other constituencies.

There were also messages from pupils at the PAP Community Foundation's Sparkletots pre- school, and Malay/Muslim welfare organisation Ain Society, among others.

Ain Society chief executive Md Yusof Ismail said more than 30 employees, board members and advisers signed a poster: "We want to wish him well. He has done a lot for Singapore."

Undergraduate Loo Kin Hong, 24, who signed a banner for Mr Lee at Tanjong Pagar GRC's Chinese New Year dinner last month, said: "After all he has done for Singapore, I really hope he recovers and returns to good health soon."
