SINGAPORE - To pay tribute to all Operationally Ready National Serviceman, a medallion, made of silver and inserted with gold, was minted on June 27, 1994.

It was launched at the Singapore Mint by then-Defence Minister Dr Yeo Ning Hong.

The front of the medallion featured a 22-carat rectagular gold insert of a special NSman logo which was launched to mark 25 years of Operationally Ready National Service.

The other side was in 925 sterling silver, or 92.5 per cent silver. It showed the Singapore Armed Forces Crest and two NSmen in full gear on patrol with the Singapore skyline in the background with the tagline, "NSmen: Our Lives Depend on You" engraved over it.

Dr Yeo said the bi-metallic medallion symbolised the twin roles NS men played - as soldiers with the SAF and as men with a role in the Singapore economy.

The medallion was available for purchase at Singapore Mint and coin shops.
