First specialised Furniture Hub to be built in Sungei Kadut

SINGAPORE - A new furniture hub is set to be the first specialised high-rise and multi-tenanted development for furniture companies and related service-providers in the furniture industry. The JTC Furniture Hub will be developed as a new building of its own in the Sungei Kadut Industrial area.

Within the Hub, the Singapore Furniture Industries Council (SFIC) will be managing a training institute for people within the furniture industry, such as carpenters and designers, to receive skills training and improve their creative craftsmanship.

SFIC will also run a design lab for new companies to innovate their furniture ideas, and a showroom for both trade visitors and the public.

More details will be available later.

"Through clustering together, furniture companies can redesign their business processes to maximise operational efficiency," said Senior Minister of State for Trade and Industry Lee Yi Shyan at the opening ceremony of the International Furniture Fair Singapore.

"The hub will also help local enterprises enhance competitiveness, and establish Singapore as an ideal sourcing location for the furniture industry."
