SINGAPORE - A fire engine which got stuck in front of shopping mall VivoCity on Monday evening after the tiles it was travelling on gave way was eventually lifted out at 1.35am on Tuesday. It was taken back to Marina Bay Fire Station after it was lifted out.
The vehicle was moving off after a routine fire safety inspection at around 6pm when its rear wheels sank into the courtyard outside the mall and dislodged several tiles, said the Singapore Civil Defence Force. No one was injured.
Officers were seen unloading a hose from the fire engine on Monday evening. It is understood that water was drained from the vehicle to lighten it. The area was cordoned off.
A spokesman for Mapletree Commercial Property Management, which manages the mall, said on Tuesday morning: "We are working closely with the authorities to handle the situation. We are investigating the incident and it's business as usual at VivoCity."
