ESM Goh Chok Tong wishes Mr Lee Kuan Yew a speedy recovery from pneumonia

SINGAPORE - Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong is the latest in a line of ministers, MPs and Singaporeans to wish Mr Lee Kuan Yew a speedy recovery from pneumonia.

In a Facebook post on Monday, Mr Goh said he visited the former prime minister on Feb 5 soon after returning from a trip to Myanmar. That was the day Mr Lee was hospitalised at the Singapore General Hospital's intensive care unit.

"He was sedated but his medical parameters were within range," Mr Goh wrote. "I understand that he has improved though he is still in ICU."

"May he recover from his pneumonia soon. Happy Lunar New Year, Mr Lee."

The Prime Minister's Office announced last Saturday that Mr Lee, 91, was admitted to hospital on Feb 5. It added that his condition has stabilised, he is conscious and on a mechanical ventilator to help him breathe.

Several politicians also sent their good wishes to Mr Lee on Monday.

They included National Development Minister Khaw Boon Wan, Tanjong Pagar GRC MP Lily Neo and Holland-Bukit Timah GRC MP Christopher de Souza.

Said Mr Khaw in his Facebook post: "Let me add my prayer for his speedy recovery, so that he can rejoin the festivity celebrations quickly. We owe much to Mr Lee for his wisdom and sacrifice."
