SINGAPORE - New smartphone app OneService provides a new platform for Singapore residents to give feedback to the authorities on municipal issues.

The public can send their feedback about damaged signs, cleanliness, pest sightings, fallen trees and much more using the app. The complaint will be routed to the relevant authority automatically.

This is not the only mobile app out there from government agencies. From tracking calories and bus arrival times, to locating clinics and Singapore missions overseas, here are some free apps you may find useful.

ACRA on the go by the Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority

Available on iOS only

The app lets users look for details of Singapore-registered businesses from Acra's database. It includes an AGM calculator for company owners to check the last possible date of a company's next annual general meeting, and a mobile version of Acra's online inquiry service.

ActiveSG by Sport Singapore

Launched last year, the app lets the public book sporting facilities and sign up for sports programmes. Registered users of the ActiveSG movement get $100 in credits to pay for entry to swimming pools and gyms managed by Sport Singapore, and to offset the cost of exercise classes like yoga, Zumba and kickboxing. The credits are stored in an eWallet on the app. It also acts as a virtual ID for entry into sports complex facilities.

iDAT by Health Promotion Board

Launched in October 2011 by the Health Promotion Board, iDAT stands for interactive Diet and Activity Tracker. It helps users count their calories and better manage their health. The app has the nutritional information of local food and beverages, such as bandung, nasi lemak, chilli crab, and chendol.

MFA@SG by Ministry of Foreign Affairs

To register with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) before an overseas trip, you can now use their app. Basically an extension of the MFA's e-services on the smartphone, it also lets users locate Singapore overseas missions, check travel notices and look up consular information such as visa requirements for Singapore passport holders.

Mobile@HDB by Housing & Development Board

This is the mobile platform for Housing & Development Board (HDB) services, including information on sales application results, availability of flats for selection and the probable completion dates of new flats. Users can also view transacted prices of resale flats, and the ethnic quotas for HDB blocks. Information guides on flat-buying procedures are also available.

MOH iHealth Sg by Ministry of Health

A mobile guide to healthcare facilities including clinics, hospitals and nursing homes. There is also a directory of medical professionals, including doctors, allied health professionals, and traditional Chinese medicine practitioners.

myENV by National Environment Agency

Using this app, you can check the weather, air quality (Pollutants Standards Index readings), location of dengue clusters, and even the times of tides in Singapore. There is also a database of hawker centres and their locations. A food hygiene module lists food and beverage outlets and their grades for cleanliness. Users can also search electrical appliances and how energy efficient they are, and locate recycling facilities in Singapore.

mySCDF by Singapore Civil Defence Force

Launched in 2013, the app lets members of public take photos of, and report, fire hazards to the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) instantly. It also has pictorial guides on emergency procedures such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and using a fire extinguisher.

myTransport by Land Transport Authority

There are modules for everything related to land transport in this app, including bus arrival times, traffic news and cameras, a MRT/LRT commuting guide, and information on cycling paths.

NLB Mobile by National Library Board

You can scan the barcode of library books and borrow them without going to a borrowing station with this app. You can also check the books on your account and your library fines on the go.
