SINGAPORE - An Indian man in his 30s was found dead at the rear of a white van in a carpark at Sembawang Park on Friday afternoon.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force had to force entry into the van to retrieve the body. Shattered glass was found on the driver's side of the van, while a box and a green umbrella were also laid out next to the vehicle.

Cleaners told the Straits Times that they did not notice anything amiss when they parked their electronic scooters in front of a large tree on Friday morning. They had to get policemen at the scene to retrieve their bikes which were in the cordoned-off area.

A group of men who appeared to know the victim have gathered near the body, but they declined to comment.
