An artistic celebration of Ang Mo Kio's history began on Sunday with the opening of the 30 Years - Ang Mo Kio Past To Present festival village, as part of the PAssionArts Festival 2014 by the People's Association.

Running until Wednesday, the festival village besides Jubilee Square includes 3-dimensional wall murals and an SBS Transit bus that fuses the facades of old and new buses.

There are also large visual arts displays on food, clothing, housing and transportation, created by 350 residents, 20 students and teachers from ITE College Central, and artist Serene Yang at a series of pre-festival workshops from April through May.

At the opening on Sunday were Minister for Culture, Community and Youth Lawrence Wong as well as Ang Mo Kio grassroots advisers Mr Seng Han Thong, Mr Yeo Guat Kwang and Dr Intan Azura Mokhtar.
