Car catches fire at Lorong Limau, no one injured

SINGAPORE - A car caught fire at an open-air HDB carpark in Balestier on Tuesday.

Responding to queries, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it was alerted at 6.30pm to the incident at 76 Lorong Limau.

It dispatched a fire engine, a red rhino and two fire bikes to the scene, putting out the fire with two water jets.

No one was hurt.

SCDF highlighted that most vehicle fires are due to things related to ignition sources, such as overheating and electrical faults within the engine compartment.

It advised vehicle owners to do the following:

- Service your vehicle regularly at authorised vehicle workshops.

- Ensure that the vehicle's electrical, engine and fuel systems are checked for any defect during each servicing session.

- Conduct visual checks for any sign of oil leakage outside of scheduled servicing periods.
