SINGAPORE - A woman identified her molester and got him arrested, thanks to the quick actions of two off-duty police officers.
The woman, who was molested by a 50-year-old man a week earlier, came face to face with him again while taking a bus on March 12.
She immediately reported the matter to the bus captain.
Luckily for her, two off-duty cops were also on board the same bus.
One of them, said the police on their Facebook page on Monday, was full-time police National Serviceman Special Constabulary (SC) Tan Keng Yew, who was on his way to work.
SC Tan, who was in civilian attire, identified himself as a police officer before approaching the male suspect. At this point, another off-duty cop, SC George Lee, also stood up to identify himself.
Both officers, aged 21, approached the molester, who retreated towards the back of the bus before eventually fleeing through the rear door.
The cops gave chase and managed to detain him. He was subsequently convicted of outrage of modesty and sentenced to two weeks' jail.
When asked how he felt about the incident, SC Lee said: "Anyone would have done the same and I am glad to have been able to contribute in a meaningful way during my National Service."
SC Tan said it feels good to know that they made a difference.
Both men had been serving national service for six months when the incident happened.
