SINGAPORE - Come 2017, Bedok residents will have a brand new complex - as big as three football fields - that will house, among other facilities, a new sports centre, library, clinic and centre for the elderly.

The Kampong Chai Chee Community Club will also be located there.

The facilities at the Bedok Integrated Complex, to be located at the town centre, will replace the existing ones. There will be no disruption to services, said Senior Minister of State for National Development and Trade and Industry Lee Yi Shyan at the ground breaking ceremony for the new centre on Saturday morning.

Plans for the integrated complex were first conceived about three years ago, said Minister in the Prime Minister's Office Lim Swee Say, who also attended the ground breaking. The construction cost will be finalised once the contracts are awarded.
