SINGAPORE- The Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) is erecting barricades and hoardings around several statues and landmarks along the Singapore River, to protect them from construction works.
This comes as the URA carries out enhancement works at the Civic District to create an integrated arts, culture, and lifestyle precinct.
Hoardings have gone up around the Sir Stamford Raffles statue since Monday. Barricades will be set up at the People of the River series (POTR) from Friday, and at the Cavenagh Bridge from April 1.
The bridge will still remain open for pedestrian crossing during this time. All three areas will be barricaded till July 31.
As the barricades will affect photo-taking opportunities, the URA said: "We seek the public's understanding as the works and barricades may cause some inconvenience during this period."
