SINGAPORE - A 69-year-old woman died after she was knocked down by a taxi at the junction of Ulu Pandan Road and Pandan Valley on Wednesday.

Madam Goh Yah Liu, a helper at a nearby school, was on her way home to Toa Payoh at about 5pm that day when she met with the mishap.

She was sent to National University Hospital but could not be saved. A taxi driver in his 60s is helping police with investigations.

On Thursday morning, her son-in-law Mr Sharul Isaac Mahnoh, who was at Health Sciences Authority's mortuary, said that he remembers Madam Goh to be a generous lady who wanted to remain active, despite her old age.

"She loved to socialise and meet people," said the 39-year-old musician. "That's why she continued working two jobs."

Besides helping out at a school, Madam Goh also works at McDonald's.

He added: "She was someone who made sure you always have food on your plate when we eat together. No one complained about her food."

She leaves behind her husband, four daughters, one son and five grandchildren.
