SINGAPORE - About 2,500 people including children with special needs, foreign workers and Manpower Minister Tan Chuan-Jin took part in a walk-cum-carnival on Sunday morning to raise money for a good cause.

Themed "Come Walk With Me", the carnival raised a total of $100,000 which will go towards supporting St Andrew's Autism School and Prison Fellowship Singapore.

The event held at St Stephen's School in Siglap was organised by Bethesda (Katong) Kindergarten which is celebrating its 60th anniversary and Bethesda (Frankel Estate) Church.

Eight charities took part in the carnival which had 60 food, games and other stalls.

Since the kindergarten started 60 years ago, more than 20,450 students have passed through its gates. From just 20 students when it first started, the school now has more than 400.

One of the hallmarks in its curriculum is to instill in children the importance of being a blessing to the less privileged, the kindergarten said.
