SINGAPORE - Potong Pasir HUDC has been officially privatised according to a statement put out by the Housing Board on Tuesday.

The sprawling estate of 175 units along Potong Pasir Avenue 1 has managed to garner the necessary 75 per cent majority support needed for the move, and will be converted to a strata-titled property with immediate effect.

This means that the Potong Pasir Town Council will cease to manage and maintain the common areas, relinquishing control to the estate's residents.

Individual owners now own their respective units, and have a share in common properties like car parks and open areas.

The privatisation of HUDC estates was first announced in 1995 as part of efforts to meet the rising aspirations of Singaporeans who wish to own private housing.

With the exception of Braddell View, the 17 other HUDC estates have all been privatised.
