Pioneers don't have to worry about details of MediShield Life: DPM Teo

SINGAPORE - Pioneers do not have to worry too much about the details about MediShield Life, said Deputy Prime Minister and Home Affairs Minister Teo Chee Hean at an appreciation dinner on Saturday for 300 seniors who were 65 years old and above.

"The important message for our pioneers is not all the details, but that they should actually worry less because we want them to enjoy their silver years with less worries. That's really the main message we want to put across," he said at the event at Pasir Ris Elias Community Centre.

This is because many of the things are taken care of automatically, said Mr Teo. For instance, no application is required to enroll into MediShield Life.

After speaking to residents, Mr Teo said they understood that the most important thing is that their healthcare will be better taken care of.

He said: "For example, you can go to the polyclinic, you can expect to pay about half of what they pay today. And if they have the misfortune of being hospitalised, they pay lower out-of-pocket hospital bills."
