SINGAPORE - Ang Mo Kio residents can look forward to a new and improved polyclinic set to open in 2018, said Minister for Health Gan Kim Yong on Sunday. They can also get subsidised tuition and IT classes at a new Chinese Development Assistance Council(CDAC) centre.

Speaking about the new polyclinic, Mr Gan said: "It will place greater emphasis on chronic disease management and health promotion, in order to meet the needs of an ageing and growing population here."

An eldercare centre will be located near the polyclinic to provide rehabilitation and day care services.

The current polyclinic will be kept open, while the new one is being built so that services to the community will not be disrupted.

Residents can also benefit from a new CDAC centre that provides tuition classes for students and IT classes for seniors at subsidised rates.

CDAC will subsidise Singaporeans who are Chinese. But members of other races are welcome to attend the classes. The Council will put them in contact with other self-help groups like Sinda and Mendaki to apply for subsidies.
