Residents pick litter and plant trees in annual Tampines Green Walk

SINGAPORE - Tampines residents learnt how they can play their part in helping and protecting the environment through the annual Tampines Green Walk on Sunday.

The event included activities such as a litter picking walk and tree planting by residents, grassroots leaders and Members of Parliament of the Tampines Group Representation Constituency (GRC) at five different locations in the area.

The National Environment Agency, Health Promotion Board and Tampines Neighbourhood Police Centre also set up information booths and games to spread the message of environmental-friendliness.

Minister for Education Heng Swee Keat, who is also MP of Tampines GRC and advisor to Tampines grassroots organisations, was the guest of honour. He was accompanied by the other MPs and advisors, Mr Masagos Zulkifli, Mr Mah Bow Tan, Mr Baey Yam Keng and Ms Irene Ng.

Monthly litter picking activities will also be held on the last Sunday of every month.
