SINGAPORE - Whether the new Jurong Lake Gardens will have robotic flowers or edible plants is up to you.

A public exhibition to showcase ideas for the gardens was launched on Sunday morning at Jurong Point, and included displays for residents to vote on features they hope to see in the future.

Ideas mooted ranged from nature-themed play areas to vertical greenery displays, and even solar-powered phone charging spots.

The public consultation exercise was launched by Minister for Culture, Community and Youth Lawrence Wong, who spoke on finding the right balance of development for the gardens.

"We will do our best to get this balance right - to retain the natural beauty of the Gardens, and also provide more programmes and spaces for communities and families to come together," he said.

The exhibition will be at Jurong Point until Tuesday. It will subsequently move to the HDB Hub, Parkland Green at East Coast Park, and VivoCity over the next three weekends.
