The Singapore Botanic Gardens' Tembusu tree is a familiar and beloved landmark. It is also a Heritage Tree, older than the 155-year-old Gardens, and now protected as part of the Gardens' site management plan for its nomination as a Unesco World Heritage Site.

There are other heritage trees around the island. Check out some of them in our photo gallery.

And if you want to explore more trees around our Garden City, there are plenty of tree trails in Singapore. These graphics from The Straits Times archive tell you where they are located.
