SingTel unveils new diploma scholarships to build strong talent pool in ICT sector

SINGAPORE - A new diploma scholarship programme was unveiled by telco SingTel on Tuesday.

Jointly developed with Singapore Polytechnic and Republic Polytechnic, the SingTel Cadet Scholarship Programme focuses on nurturing young talent in the areas of computer engineering, cyber security and customer experience.

The scholarships, worth over S$2 million yearly, is available to students pursuing diplomas in computer engineering and infocomm security management at Singapore Polytechnic, and the diploma in customer relationship and service management at Republic Polytechnic.

A total of 90 scholarships are available each year to top students across the three programmes. Scholarship holders will serve a one-year bond with the telco, where they will be provided with industry-relevant training and employment opportunities.

Mr Bill Chang, SingTel's country chief officer for Singapore, said: "Through our scholarships, we can help polytechnic students acquire relevant skills and develop them in critical roles within SingTel and across the broader industry.

"Our partnership with the educational institutions will help the nation build a strong talent pool in the ICT (information and communications technology) sector and enhance customers' experience."
