Floral art blossoms in Nanyang Primary School

Instead of snipping paper, these pupils at Nanyang Primary School are snipping stems and leaves during art class.

Each lesson, the primary four and five pupils are given a set of blooms and some simple instructions on how to arrange flowers.

"My favourite part about floral arts is that I don't have to follow instructions like other subjects. I can do whatever design I want to," said 11-year-old Alexander Tsai.

The classes were first offered as optional enrichment classes in 2002 but the classes proved so popular that they became part of the arts curriculum in 2009.
