Clarence Ti, chief of agency under Min of Finance, named as Ngee Ann Poly principal

Mr Clarence Ti Boon Wee, current chief executive of a government agency under the Ministry of Finance, has been named Ngee Ann Polytechnic's new principal with effect from May 1, after its former principal Chia Mia Chiang left to become president of the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts.

Mr Chia had headed Ngee Ann for 14 years.

His successor, Mr Ti, comes from Vital, an agency which handles appointment, payroll and training functions, among other things. Since 2010, he has led 500 officers as chief of Vital, which supports 80,000 civil servants across more than 100 government agencies.

In all, Mr Ti has served more than 15 years in the public sector, holding positions in the Economic Development Board, Singapore Land Authority and Ministry of Law.

He holds a bachelor of science degree with high honours and a Master's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in the United States, under an EDB overseas scholarship. He also has an MBA with distinction from Insead.

In a statement on Friday, Mr Ti said: "I am very excited to join Ngee Ann Polytechnic and be given the opportunity to serve in the education sector. I look forward to meeting the students and working with my new colleagues to give them the best learning experience."

Mr Tang Kin Fei, chairman of the Ngee Ann Polytechnic Council, said: "I am very happy to welcome Clarence on baord. With his extensive experience, Ngee Ann Polytechnic can look forward to more successful years ahead under his leadership."
