Children's book festival with Asian focus kicks off on Friday

SINGAPORE - The Asian Festival of Children's Content (AFCC), which kicked off on Friday, is presenting a line-up of activities and talks in various libraries, including the National Library Building.
The event organised by the National Book Development Council of Singapore was attended by Mr Lawrence Wong, Minister for Culture, Community and Youth on Friday.
The six-day festival includes a host of free and ticketed activities such as performances, public talks, and workshops targeted at people interested in Asian content for children, from parents and children to writers, illustrators and educators.
At the event, Mr Wong, who is also Second Minister for Communications and Information, highlighted the importance of stories in teaching children about the world and its history. Reading each other's stories will also bind communities together, he said.
