Young woman charged with loanshark harassment

SINGAPORE - A young woman whom the police were looking for in relation to loanshark harassment has been charged in court.

The police released an appeal on Jan 5 looking for a woman believed to be involved in a case of loanshark harassment near Sembawang Close on Jan 1. Her photo created a stir on social media because she did not look like the usual suspects the police would look for in relation to such cases.

The woman was reportedly then turned in to the police by her mother after the latter read the news.

On Jan 10, Liu Yimin Lynnette, 28, was charged in court. She faces seven charges of splashing red paint on doors and pasting envelopes with "O$P$", the unit numbers of the borrowers, and a mobile number on the walls beside the units.

She allegedly was involved in cases of loanshark harassment between Nov 18, 2014, and Jan 1 this year in areas like Jurong East, Bukit Batok and Pasir Ris and Sembawang Close.
