Woman arrested for theft of cash using stolen ATM cards

A 43-year-old woman was arrested on Monday afternoon for withdrawing cash using stolen ATM cards.

The suspect is believed to have used the cards to withdraw some $160 from an ATM at Redhill MRT station on March 12, said a police statement. Later the same day, a victim lodged a police report stating that she had left her wallet containing the ATM cards and EZ-link cards on a bench in front of a block along Henderson Road, and that two unauthorised cash withdrawals had been made.

If convicted of theft, the suspect faces a maximum of three years in jail, or a fine, or both. If convicted of the offence of dishonest misappropriation of property, the suspect may face up to a maximum of two years in jail, or a fine, or both.
