Teenager arrested for suspected housebreaking at Ulu Pandan

A 17-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of committing housebreaking on Friday.

A resident in a private apartment on Ulu Pandan Road spotted an intruder in his house and made a police report at 2.50am.

After a search in the vicinity, officers from Clementi Police Division located and detained the suspect at about 4am.

If convicted of housebreaking by night, the teenager is liable to a maximum jail term of three years and a fine.

In a statement on Friday, Commander of Clementi Police Division Deputy Assistant Commissioner of Police Melvin Yong reminded house owners and tenants to safeguard their premises by securing their main doors and windows with strong grilles and good quality locks.
