Technician who blackmailed girlfriend with sex photos jailed nine months

SINGAPORE - A technician who threatened to post photos of him having sex with his girlfriend online unless she slept with him was jailed for nine months on Tuesday.

Mohammad Hairudy Abdul Hamid, 27, admitted criminal intimidation plus six charges of insulting the modesty of women by filming them bathing or using the toilet.

A district court heard Hairudy and his then 24-year-old girlfriend filmed themselves having sex several times before breaking up in November 2011.

He later told her he had deleted the footage but on Aug 19 last year, she received images of them having intercourse.

Hairudy then texted her, threatening to post the images online within minutes if she did not agree to have sex with him. She refused and made a police report.

After his arrest, police seized his laptop which was found to contain video footage of a 30-year-old woman bathing in her flat in Choa Chu Kang.

The court heard that he was a friend of the woman's brother and would visit the flat regularly. He had filmed her with a hidden camera that looked like a lighter.

Investigation also showed that Hairudy took video footage of a 25-year-old teacher using his toilet on three occasions between September and December 2012.

He committed two similar offences with a girlfriend at a party at Swissotel and a sales assistant friend at Hotel 81 in Chinatown.

District Judge Jasbendar Kaur slammed Hairudy for committing the offences in an opportunistic manner, saying there was deliberation and careful planning involved.
