Supermarket staff at Sheng Siong to be trained by police to prevent and deter theft

SINGAPORE - Frontline staff at some Sheng Siong Supermarket outlets will step up efforts to curb shop theft.

They will be trained to spot potential thieves, making them de-facto security officers at three supermarkets in Woodlands, in a press statement released by the police on Sunday morning.

These employees will also don a vest for deterrence, with the words "SECURITY. May I help you?" printed on the back of the vest.

Sheng Siong launched this collaboration with the police on Saturday and hopes to expand it to all its outlets here.
