SINGAPORE - A young boy, believed to be seven-years old, was found dead at the foot of a Tampines HDB block on Saturday.

The police are currently investigating it as a case of unnatural death.

A spokesman said that it received a call for assistance at Tampines Ave 4 at 1.02pm. Paramedics pronounced the boy, who is understood to have suffered injuries consistent with a fall from height, dead at the scene.

The Straits Times understands that foul play is suspected, and that no arrests have been made yet.

Police cordoned off the foot of the block until nightfall.

Criminal Investigation Department (CID) officers were seen

gathering evidence. They also went to the boy's ninth-floor home to talk to the family.

Neighbours told The Sunday Times that they saw and heard nothing out of the ordinary before the incident. The family's next-door neighbour, who wanted to be known

only as Mr Tan, 61, said the boy was autistic and had lived there for more than five years with his parents, grandmother and 12-year-old brother, who is in Primary 6. He said the family was close-knit and "very private". He added that he did not see the young boy very often.

"All this while we have lived here, there has been no trouble," said Mr Tan.

Ms Pabitha Parvin, 32, a housewife who lives on the 11th floor of the opposite block, said that after she heard the boy fall, she noticed that one of the family's kitchen windows was wide open, while the others were all shut.
