More than 15 drug traffickers, 96 abusers nabbed in islandwide operation

SINGAPORE - The Central Narcotics Bureau arrested 15 suspected drug traffickers and 96 drug abusers in a four-day island-wide sting that ended on Friday morning.

Also seized was a range of drugs which included 115g of heroin, 112g of Ice and 81g of ketamine. The drugs are estimated to have a street value of more than $43,000.

The operation saw officers being deployed in areas such as Ang Mo Kio, Boon Lay and Geylang.

One of the drug traffickers, a 50-year-old arrested near Geylang Lorong 40 on Thursday, was found with four different kinds of drugs. Police later escorted him back to his home and uncovered an even larger stash.

If convicted, the man will face a minimum of five years imprisonment.
