Man arrested for snatching phones from women

SINGAPORE - Police have arrested a 26-year-old man believed to be involved in multiple cases of snatch theft targeting women in the housing estates of Jurong East, Pandan Gardens and Faber Walk.

Since January, police have received five reports of women having their mobile phones snatched from them.

The man was arrested by officers from the Clementi Police Division at Penjuru Place in the early hours of Sunday.

Four of the stolen phones were recovered from the suspect and seized as case exhibits. Police investigations are ongoing.

The offence carries a jail sentence of up to seven years, as well as caning.
