Man, 30, arrested for alleged molestation on MRT train

SINGAPORE - A man suspected of outraging the modesty of a woman on an MRT train has been arrested, the police said in a statement on Wednesday.

The 30-year-old suspect allegedly molested his victim on a west-bound MRT train on Tuesday at about 7.20am. The victim confronted the suspect, who then tried to flee but was eventually detained by the staff at the passenger service centre of the unspecified train station.

Police were subsequently alerted and the suspect was arrested.

He is expected to be charged in court on Thursday for the offence of outrage of modesty. If convicted, he could be jailed up to two years, fined, and caned.
