SINGAPORE - Police arrested a 47-year-old man suspected of committing robbery on Thursday.

The 47-year-old was believed to have robbed a 64-year-old woman of her purse in the lift of a HDB block in Jurong West St 61 on July 11. The elderly victim then lodged a report with the police.

Following investigations, officers from Jurong Police Division established his identity and arrested him along Jurong West St 61 at about 10.40pm on Thursday.

If found guilty of robbery, he faces up to 14 years' imprisonment.

Police are advising members of the public to be wary of strangers loitering at lift landings or void decks and to avoid wearing excessive jewellery or carrying large sums of cash when going out alone.
