Four male teens arrested for alleged motorcycle thefts

SINGAPORE - Police arrested four males aged 15 and 16 on Wednesday for their suspected involvement in several cases of motorcycle theft.

Officers were conducting checks along Upper Cross Street at about 3.50am on Wednesday, when a motorcyclist and his pillion passenger evaded the check and fled on foot after abandoning their motorcycle. Police later found that the abandoned motorcycle had been reported stolen from Telok Blangah Crescent on Tuesday.

Following investigations, officers from Central Police Division established the identities of the suspects and arrested the first suspect at Upper Cross Street at about 4.30pm. The remaining three suspects were arrested at Telok Blangah Crescent and Jalan Bukit Ho Swee about half an hour later.

Police said investigations against the four suspects are ongoing to establish their involvement in other cases of motorcycle theft. If found guilty of theft of motor vehicle with common intention, each man faces up to seven years' jail and a fine.
