SINGAPORE - Five teenagers were arrested on Friday for suspected involvement in a West Coast housebreaking case.

Police were informed of the break-in, which occurred at a private residence on Aug 14.

The five suspects, all aged 14 or 15, were nabbed a week later in the vicinity of Clementi West Street.

They are expected to be charged in court with housebreaking on Saturday.

They could face jail terms of up to three years each if convicted.

Police urged residents to adopt break-in prevention measures such as changing all locks when house keys are lost or stolen.

They are also advised not to hide keys in obvious places such as under the door mat, or to leave notes outside the front door announcing an absence from home.
