SINGAPORE - A delivery man who blocked an SBS Transit bus and pulled its wiper was fined $4,000 on Thursday.

Sim Boo Kiong, 51, admitted to committing mischief by causing damage amounting to $835 to SBS Transit Service 65 in front of Sri Vadapathira Kaliamman Temple along Serangoon Road on March 29.

The court heard that bus captain Ameer Mustafa, 25, was driving the vehicle along Serangoon Road when he stopped in front of the temple to pick up and drop off passengers.

He closed the doors and was on the centre lane when Sim came onto the road and stood in front of the bus.

Mr Ameer stopped the vehicle. Sim then signalled him to open the door but the driver refused due to security and safety reasons.

Sim suddenly used his hands to pull the wiper, damaging it.

He has made full restitution to the company.

He could have been jailed for up to two years and/or fined for mischief.

A second charge of disorderly behaviour was taken into consideration.
