SINGAPORE - The Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) has rounded up 92 drug offenders - including a 53-year-old suspected trafficker - over a four-day, island-wide operation that ended on Friday.

Drugs, including some 150grams of heroin - enough to sustain about 70 abusers for a week, 45 grams of Ice, as well as small quantities of cannabis, Erimin-5 and Ecstasy tablets, worth about $22,000 in street-value were also seized by CNB officers.

A spokesman said in a statement on Friday that the operation, which started on Monday, targetted "street-level demand and supply of illicit drugs". CNB officers, supported by the police, raided several areas, including Bedok, Bukit Batok, Bukit Merah, Choa Chu Kang, Clementi, Eunos, Geylang, Henderson, Jurong, Serangoon, Tampines, West Coast and Yishun.

During one such raid, CNB officers recovered about 41g of heroin, 9g of 'Ice' and some Erimin-5 tablets at a unit in Geylang on June 9, at about 3pm. Other drug paraphernalia, such as empty zip-lock bags and an improvised drug-smoking apparatus, were also seized.

Investigations are ongoing, said the CNB spokesman. "This latest island-wide strike is a signal to all drug offenders that CNB will continue to keep up enforcement pressure on the ground; there will be no let-up," he added.
