27 arrested in joint enforcement raid; 17 for drug-related offences

SINGAPORE - Twenty-seven people were arrested after a 17-hour raid that started at 9am on Monday.

Checks were conducted at public entertainment outlets and housing estates in Sembawang, Yishun, Ang Mo Kio, Upper Serangoon Road, Punggol and Sengkang.

Among those arrested, 17 people were arrested for drug-related offences, six for gambling-related offences, three were arrested for offences under the Societies Act and one was detected as a wanted person.

A public entertainment outlet was found to have breached licensing conditions, and another found to have violated fire safety requirements. The operation was jointly led by Ang Mo Kio Police Division and Central Narcotics Bureau, and involved officers from the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) and the Secret Societies Branch of the Criminal Investigation Department.

A small amount of drugs was seized in the raid. In the gaming raid, $136 cash, six mobile phones, 17 modified computer terminals and several gaming paraphernalia were also seized.

Investigations are ongoing.
