10 arrested for suspected involvement in loansharking activities

SINGAPORE - Ten men, aged between 26 and 58, were arrested for suspected loansharking activities in an overnight islandwide operation that ended on Tuesday.

It was conducted by officers from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and Police Intelligence Department.

The suspects were arrested in various locations including Ang Mo Kio, Marine Crescent, Bukit Merah, Bukit Timah and Whampoa.

The officers also seized about $6,400 in cash, mobile phones, Automated Teller Machine (ATM) cards, banking slips and bank account books.

All 10 men will be charged in Court on Wednesday for various offences under the Moneylenders Act (Revised Edition 2010).
