SINGAPORE - Stock market punters continued to stick to the sidelines on Tuesday, with shares little moved for a second day and trading volume remaining thin.

The local benchmark Straits Times Index rose just 4.63 points, or 0.14 per cent, to close at 3,262.03.

A paltry 1.49 billion shares worth $561.1 million changed hands.

Innopac Holdings was the top active, rising 0.2 cents to 1.9 cents on a turnover of 116.5 million shares.

The firm said earlier this month that it had made a loss of $63 million for its full financial year.

Most Asian markets also closed higher, although trading was uninspired across the region, after a tepid lead from Wall Street and disappointing economic figures out of the euro zone.

Tokyo rebounded from early profit-taking to end a touch higher, adding 6.96 points, while Seoul jumped 0.98 per cent. Hong Kong rebounded slightly after Monday's heavy selling, up 0.33 per cent, while Shanghai advanced 0.47 per cent.
