Singapore - Local shares continued to trade sideways on Thursday, rising just 0.44 points, or 0.01 per cent, to close at 3,324.09.

The stagnation came amid a weak day of trading for most Asian markets, which were dragged down by gloomy Chinese manufacturing data.

Only 1.45 billion shares worth a palty $836.4 million changed hands at home.

There were 204 gainers, versus 197 losers while 390 remain unchanged.

Asia Pacific Strategic Investments was the top active, rising 0.2 cents to 5.7 cents on a turnover of 112.9 million shares.

Elsewhere, Seoul dropped 1.38 per cent, Hong Kong lost 0.66 per cent, Shanghai slid 0.44 per cent, while Sydney ended flat. Tokyo bucked the trend, gaining 0.85 per cent.
