HONG KONG (AFP) - Hong Kong shares opened 0.59 per cent up Wednesday after a record close on Wall Street and as investors returned from a one-day holiday to news that an index of Chinese manufacturing was at its highest level this year.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index added 135.81 points to 23,326.53.
