Hong Kong stocks close 0.41% higher

HONG KONG (AFP) - Hong Kong shares rose 0.41 per cent on Tuesday following a record-breaking close on Wall Street but gains were capped after another soft batch of Chinese economic data.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index added 90.77 points to 22,352.38 on turnover of HK$50.72 billion (S$8.2 billion).

Chinese stocks closed down 0.10 per cent. The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index edged down 2.14 points to 2,050.73 on turnover of 73.7 billion yuan (S$14.8 billion).

The Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, slipped 0.11 per cent, or 1.15 points, to 1,039.39 on turnover of 78.2 billion yuan.
