SINGAPORE - The Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore (Iras) aims to bring more convenience and benefits to taxpayers this year.

An income tax rebate of 50 per cent with a cap of $1,000, a part of the budget 2015 as a way of helping the middle-income earners, will be implemented.

Taxpayers who support their parents can also enjoy an increase in parent relief of $1000 to $3000.

In addition, that parent relief can now be shared among claimants who support the same dependant.

Iras also aims to make tax filing more convenient for 65,000 individual commission earners, with pre-filled commission information on the website for the first time.

Companies have also joined in on the e-Submission of Commision Income Scheme, with 110 commission-paying companies submitting their commissions paid online.

Some three in five taxpayers will also benefit from the No-Filing Service (NFS) for this year's tax season, so they do not need to file their tax returns.

However, those who are not on the NFS would have been informed to file their tax returns by April 18.
