BERLIN (Reuters) - German exports fell more than expected in February while imports rose, narrowing the trade surplus in Europe's largest economy, data showed on Wednesday.

Figures from the Federal Statistics Office showed seasonally-adjusted exports down 1.3 per cent on the month and imports up 0.4 per cent.

The consensus forecast in a Reuters poll of economists had been for shipments abroad to fall by 0.5 per cent and for imports to increase by 0.1 per cent.

The seasonally adjusted trade balance narrowed to 15.7 billion euros from an upwardly revised 17.3 billion euros in January.
